After twenty-two years as a futurist keynote speaker I’m moving beyond being primarily a kind of service provider, a speaker-for-hire. For two decades, “keynote speaker” was my key brand tag – book Gerd, get the future explained, move on to the next agenda item. Useful. Profitable. Entertaining and maybe somewhat enlightening as well:)
Yet in the past 7 years or so, the tags never quite matched what I actually came here to do. Today, I’m done with the ‘neutral futurist’.
My new title: “For the Human Future” isn’t an analysis and explanation, it’s a position, an advocacy and a mission. AI and profit-only tech aren’t inevitabilities we can narrate and then placate from the sidelines. They’re forces that we still get to shape – if we choose to. At the core of this are the #Androrithms – the opposite of algorithms. Empathy. Intuition. Creativity. Moral judgement. Consciousness, Agency. The things machines may eventually be able to simulate but will never truly possess (and we should not attempt to teach them, either). The more powerful AI becomes, the more these human traits aren’t soft skills — they’re survival skills!

After 22 years of working as a futurist, I am reorienting my career from technology, business and commerce to a MISSION with a clear declaration of allegiance: “For the human future”. As a dedicated advocate for humanity, I am planting my flag to defend our uniquely human androrithms – including empathy, creativity, consciousness and moral judgment- against the rise of algorithms, optimization and efficiency.
