Gerd Leonhard — For the Human Future

Public Thinker. Futurist. Advocate for The Good Future. Defender of Androrithms. Top-rated keynote speaker, filmmaker, and author of five books, including the bestseller Technology vs. Humanity. Host of Gerd.tv. Gerd Leonhard is a leading voice on the human consequences of exponential technological change. His work is about one fundamental question: How do we make sure all technological progress serves humanity – rather than the other way around?

Gerd champions The Good Future: a future in which technology helps advance what really matters – People, Planet, Purpose, Peace, and Prosperity. His often-cited ‘Androrithms‘ meme highlights the human qualities that no machine can replace: agency, imagination, intuition, empathy, judgment, meaning, consciousness and the ability to care.

In more than 25 years, Gerd has delivered 2,000+ keynotes and talks in 65+ countries, reaching more than 3.5 million people. His films and videos exploring technology and humanity, AI/HI and the future have reached millions more, and are regularly featured at major conferences and at many universities. His clients include Fortune 500 companies, governments, leading global events, NGOs, the United Nations, and the European Commission.

Gerd has also transformed the traditional keynote into something far more immersive: a cinematic experience combining storytelling, films and videos, animations, music, powerful imagery, and a sparkling live performance.

His presentations are provocative without being cynical, optimistic without being naïve, and always deeply human. The Wall Street Journal has called him “one of the leading futurists in the world,” while Wired Magazine named him among Europe’s top 100 influencers. Born in Germany and shaped by 17 years in the United States, Gerd has lived in Zürich, Switzerland, since 2004. He performs in English and German and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in London.
