Everything we’ve known about the world so far is under fire, and I believe we must fundamentally change how we think about the future of education and learning. When I look back at my own education—first at the University of Bonn and then at Berkeley College of Music in Boston—I essentially just “downloaded the information” so that I could function in society. My biggest complaint about my schooling is that it taught me a false premise: that simply studying a lot, and very hard, would make me successful. Twenty years ago, the model was to get a BA or MBA, work 14-hour days like a machine, and get paid well, but I can tell you that era is completely finished….
