We have all the tech. But do we have the wisdom?
AI could help us cure diseases, transform education and solve some of humanity’s greatest challenges. Yet the race to build ever more powerful machines raises a question we can no longer postpone: what kind of Future are we actually funding, and what kind of Future do we want? And who is ‘we’?
In this keynote supercut, exclusively available on my new GerdTV platform I explore the extraordinary promise of technology—and the choices that could turn that promise against us. From intelligent assistants to autonomous agents and the pursuit of AGI, we are handing machines more capability, more responsibility and increasingly more power. Who decides where this leads?
The AI emergency also reaches into our own minds: what happens when we stop making the effort to think, imagine, create and question for ourselves? Convenience has a price when we surrender the very capacities that make us human. Here, I make the case for a different direction: investing as much in humanity as we invest in technology. Building an economy around People, Planet, Purpose, Peace and Prosperity. Giving Europe the ambition, independence and shared institutions to shape its own tomorrow.
We can use these tools to expand human possibilities. That requires public choices, accountable leadership and the courage to challenge incentives that reward replacement over human flourishing. The wolf you feed is the wolf that wins. Which future are we feeding?
Watch, question, share—and help us take back tomorrow.
